Over at Home Depot, they have this Gearwrench Bolt Biter Gearpack tool set for just $39.99 with free shipping.
In my opinion, this is a fantastic deal even if you have zero need for Bolt Biter sockets.
This is a great deal even for just the ratchet and pliers alone!!

Here’s what you get:
- 3/8″ 90T ratchet with comfort grip
- 2pc Bolt Biter impact screwdrivers
- 2pc AutoBite adjustable pliers (8″, 10″)
- 8pc Bolt Biter extraction socket set
I wrote about this deal earlier this year, and it bounced around between $53 and $80 on Amazon since then before finally selling out recently. $40 at Home Depot with free shipping is even better!
Here’s the pricing analysis I put together last month:
The 90T ratchet is valued at roughly $43 (Home Depot) and up. The PitBull AutoBite pliers (8″ and 10″″”) are valued at $16 and $22 respectively (Amazon). The 2pc impact extraction screwdrivers are valued at ~$24 (Amazon). The Bolt Biter extraction sockets (8pc set) are valued at around $28 (Amazon).
$90 was a great price when I first bought this set. At $40, I’m wishing I didn’t already have two complete sets, so I could buy it again!
My guess is that retailers stock up on this tool set for the holidays, and it sells slowly due to the “Bolt Biter” extraction socket angle. But at this price, if you can use the ratchet (it’s a nice one!) and Auto Bite pliers (I like these too!), it’s a great value, and the extraction tools might still come in handy one day.

Thank you to Blocky for the heads-up!

At $40, resistance was futile. Thanks for posting all of the deals!!!!

How do those pliers compare to Knipex Cobras? Apples and oranges?
Mark M.
Just my two cents, for light-duty tasks these should be fine and Cobras would be overkill. For daily and/or hard use, Cobras are in a different league. Not just the action but the tooth and jaw hardness. I’ve used all kinds and you def get what you pay for with Knipex.
Stuart
Cobra are better. These are good when you want something that can handle some abuse, and expect better functionality and ease of use than traditional tongue and groove pliers, but aren’t quite up to Knipex-sized holes in your wallet.
Jerry
Think of these as a Cobra subsitute. I have a set,and they work well, but Cobras are better made with better steel. If you are not a frequent user the practical differences are small. Cobras will outlast these and bite into harder metal. Otherwise they are similar.
Oh and I prefer the Cobra adjustment mechanism.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody. I decided against it even before it sold out. Great deal, but I just wouldn’t use very much of the set. I think I’d be happier with a cobra.

The top illustration of the two pliers doesn’t have machined faces. The second illustration shows a machined face(appears to be a Pitbull model!

Photos not illustrations!

They’re the same. If you look at either retailer page and zoom into the product images, they have the same grooved jaws. Details like that tend to be lost when images are scaled down.

I’ve been eyeing that GW 90T after watching the Project Farm comparison. For $39 this is a no-brainer. Thanks for the heads up!
Derek
Only wish it was the hard handle wrench.
Jeremiah
Definitely worth a second look at this price.
I’m putting my list together now, and even though GW is half a percentage better than Husky Tools, they are usually priced a lot higher. The only issue is, they put a lot of filler pieces in their larger kits, so you need to buy the ancillary kits to get all of the other sized sockets and wrenches. Also, their lifetime warranty is not necessary as good as other brands. It is only for the original purchaser and with proof of purchase. And you need to wait for approval and shipping.
So, for the bolt biter and ratchet alone, this is a good deal.

My kit arrived yesterday, and I think I’m lucky it made it to me. The Home Depot Commandoes just slapped a shipping label on the Gearwrench box and called it good. They didn’t even tape the box closed. Anyone seeing the box on the porch, knew exactly what was in it from all of the pictures on the box. Home Depot usually does a much better job than this.

Same here probably too busy to look inside but the stuff could have easily fallen out. Great deal the demo screw drivers look great and the ratchet is very nice.

My kit arrived today and unlike Harry’s kit mentioned in another comment, mine was securely packed in an oversized box. I was pleasantly surprised that all the components of the set inside the DeWalt box were in in retail packaging. That makes it easy for me to use some of the items that are extra to my needs as gifts to my friends. Of course, they’ll probably still want to borrow tools when they can’t find theirs but that’s why I seemingly have 3-4 of most common tools.

My kit showed up today and it’s a LOT for the money. The screwdrivers look and feel great, ratchet exceeded my expectations, pliers also exceeded what I thought they’d be (still not Cobras but nice nonetheless), and the sockets are a nice set. I wish I had bought 5 of these for gifts. If ever this goes on sale for $39 again buy all you can!
